Local memory disclosure via unchecked imgsys range
Published Sep 4, 2023 · Updated Oct 8, 2024
Out-of-bounds read in MediaTek imgsys on affected chipsets allows local users with System privileges to disclose memory via local processing. The imgsys component reads beyond a valid memory range because it fails to validate that range before accessing memory; MediaTek has not disclosed the exact input or function. Exploitation requires System privileges and user interaction on Android 11.0 and 12.0, Linux 6.1, IOT-v23.0, or Yocto 4.0.
