Local information disclosure via unchecked camsys read
Published Sep 4, 2023 · Updated Oct 8, 2024
An out-of-bounds read in MediaTek camsys on 14 chipsets with Android 11.0, 12.0, or 13.0 allows local users to disclose data. Camsys performs a memory read without first checking that the read stays within bounds; MediaTek has not disclosed the function or input path. Exploitation requires System execution privileges but no user interaction, and the consequence is limited to local information disclosure.
