Local privilege escalation via netdagent out-of-bounds write
Published Sep 4, 2023 · Updated Oct 10, 2024
Out-of-bounds write in MediaTek netdagent on Android 12.0 and 13.0 allows local users with System privileges to escalate privileges. Netdagent omits a bounds check before writing untrusted input, permitting a write beyond the destination buffer. Exploitation requires existing System execution privileges on an affected MediaTek chipset and needs no user interaction; MediaTek discloses no lower-level code locus.
