Settings modification via missing nonce validation
Published Jul 11, 2023 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Cross-site request forgery in Buy Me a Coffee – Button and Widget Plugin 3.7 and earlier allows remote attackers to change plugin settings. The recieve_post, bmc_disconnect, name_post, and widget_post handlers accept settings-changing requests without validating a WordPress nonce. Exploitation requires an authenticated site administrator to act on an attacker-controlled link or equivalent forged request, after which the request executes with the administrator session.
