Local privilege escalation via missing bounds check
Published Aug 7, 2023 · Updated Nov 14, 2024
Out-of-bounds write in MediaTek keyinstall on affected Android 11.0 through 13.0 chipsets allows local users to escalate privileges. Keyinstall fails to bounds-check an undisclosed value before performing a write outside the intended buffer; MediaTek has not identified the input, buffer, or write operation. Exploitation requires local access with System execution privileges but no user interaction, and successful exploitation elevates privileges on the affected device.
