Subscriber settings modification via missing capability checks
Published Jul 11, 2023 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Missing authorization in Buy Me a Coffee – Button and Widget Plugin 3.7 and earlier allows attackers with subscriber accounts to alter settings. The recieve_post, bmc_disconnect, name_post, and widget_post handlers process settings-changing requests without WordPress capability checks. A subscriber account is sufficient, and exploitation changes the plugin configuration within the site.
