Local privilege escalation via integer-overflow write
Published Jul 4, 2023 · Updated Dec 4, 2024
Integer overflow in MediaTek keyinstall on Android 12.0 or 13.0 allows local users with System execution privileges to escalate privileges. Keyinstall performs an integer calculation that can overflow and cause an out-of-bounds memory write; MediaTek has not disclosed the affected function or buffer. Exploitation requires prior System execution privileges, needs no user interaction, and can raise the attacker's local privilege level.
