Local privilege escalation via integer overflow
Published Jul 4, 2023 · Updated Dec 4, 2024
Improper input validation in MediaTek keyinstall on Android 11.0, 12.0, and 13.0 allows local users to escalate privileges. An integer overflow in keyinstall causes an out-of-bounds write while processing input. Exploitation requires existing System execution privileges on a device using a listed MediaTek chipset, but no user interaction.
