Local privilege escalation via unchecked WLAN write
Published Jun 6, 2023 · Updated Jan 7, 2025
An out-of-bounds write in MediaTek WLAN software allows local users with System execution privileges to escalate privileges. The WLAN component omits a bounds check before a write, allowing the operation to exceed the destination buffer. Exploitation requires System execution privileges, needs no user interaction, and can produce further local privilege escalation.
