Unauthenticated code execution via malicious CIP library upload
Published Sep 12, 2023 · Updated Sep 25, 2024
Improper input validation in FactoryTalk View Machine Edition 12.0 and 13.0 allows remote attackers to execute code on PanelView Plus. Two undocumented CIP classes permit file writes and dynamic library invocation, while weak path and name checks accept an uploaded malicious remotehelper.dll. Network access to the device is sufficient; successful exploitation runs attacker-supplied code with full control of the HMI.
