Improper input validation in MediaTek RIL on Android 12.0 and 13.0 allows local users with System privileges to escalate privilege. The RIL component writes beyond a buffer boundary because it fails to check the input size before performing the write. Exploitation requires existing System execution privileges but no user interaction, and the resulting memory corruption enables further local privilege escalation.
