Local privilege escalation via display DRM double free
Published Apr 6, 2023 · Updated Feb 12, 2025
Improper synchronization in display DRM on MediaTek chipsets running Android 12.0 and 13.0 allows local users to escalate privileges. Concurrent display DRM operations can free the same allocation twice because access is not synchronized. Exploitation requires local System-level execution privileges and no user interaction; MediaTek has not disclosed the affected function or resulting privilege level.
