Local privilege escalation via missing keyinstall bounds check
Published Apr 6, 2023 · Updated Mar 17, 2025
Out-of-bounds write in MediaTek keyinstall on affected Android 10.0 through 13.0 chipsets allows local users to gain elevated privileges. The keyinstall component performs a write without checking that the requested length remains within the destination buffer. Exploitation requires existing System execution privileges but no user interaction, and successful exploitation elevates local code beyond that security context.
