Published Feb 6, 2023 · Updated Mar 26, 2025
A use-after-free in MediaTek VCU on Android 11.0, 12.0, and 13.0 allows local users with System privileges to gain elevated privileges. Improper locking in the VCU permits code to access memory after the associated object has been released. The flaw is reachable only with System execution privileges, requires no user interaction, and can corrupt VCU memory for local privilege escalation.
