CVE-2023-20593Public exploit

Cross-process data disclosure via stale vector registers

Published Jul 24, 2023 · Updated Feb 13, 2025

Cross-process information disclosure in AMD Zen 2 processors allows local users to read sensitive register data from other contexts. A mispredicted VZEROUPPER instruction releases vector-register resources but fails to restore internal tracking, exposing stale YMM values. No privileges or system calls are required, and data from processes, sibling threads, sandboxes, containers, or guests sharing a physical core can be read.
