CVE-2023-20584

Guest integrity loss via unchecked DTE faults

Published Aug 13, 2024 · Updated Nov 5, 2024

Improper IOMMU handling in AMD EPYC 7003 and 9004 Processors allows local users to compromise SEV-SNP guest integrity. The IOMMU accepts special address ranges with invalid device table entries, letting induced DTE faults bypass reverse-map-table checks. Exploitation requires high privileges and a compromised hypervisor, and the reported consequence is modification of protected guest state.
