CVE-2023-20522

Service interruption via malicious BIOS input

Published Jan 10, 2023 · Updated Apr 7, 2025

Insufficient input validation in AMD EPYC 7002 and 7003 processor ASP firmware allows attackers to interrupt service via a malicious BIOS. AMD identifies the locus only as the AMD Secure Processor and has not published the malformed input or the validation operation that accepts it. The attack requires control of platform BIOS content; the documented consequence is denial of service, with no reported data disclosure or modification.
