CVE-2023-20519

Guest integrity compromise via freed context page

Published Nov 14, 2023 · Updated Aug 30, 2024

Use-after-free in AMD SEV-SNP firmware for 3rd and 4th Gen EPYC processors allows attackers controlling the hypervisor to compromise guest integrity. The SNP guest context-page manager accesses a page after releasing it, allowing attacker-controlled state to be accepted as the guest's migration agent. Exploitation requires control of the host hypervisor and targets SEV-SNP guest migration, with no reported confidentiality or availability impact.
