Master Encryption Key exposure via incomplete ASP cleanup
Published Aug 13, 2024 · Updated Nov 5, 2024
Incomplete cleanup in AMD Secure Processor firmware on affected AMD processors allows local users to expose the Master Encryption Key. AMD has not disclosed which ASP routine fails to erase the key or associated memory after use. Exploitation requires high privileges, BIOS-menu or UEFI-shell access, and a separate memory-exfiltration vulnerability; the reported consequence is key confidentiality loss.
