Authenticated database read-write via news-list sort injection
Published Apr 14, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
SQL injection in Novel-Plus 3.6.2 allows remote authenticated users to alter database queries through the news list sort parameter. At /news/list, the request-supplied sort value reaches the SQL ORDER BY clause without restriction, allowing injected SQL syntax to change the query. A low-privileged account and network access to the news-list interface are required; successful exploitation can read or alter application database data.
