Adjacent device reboot via client-triggered memory leaks
Published Sep 27, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Resource exhaustion in Cisco Mobility Express and WLC AireOS 8.10.150 through 8.10.185 allows adjacent attackers to reboot controllers. The controller's memory buffer retains allocations when multiple wireless clients connect under specific conditions instead of releasing them. Exploitation requires Random MAC Filtering and sustained connection attempts from nearby clients; accumulated leakage eventually forces a reboot and interrupts wireless service.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
