Unauthenticated policy bypass via Snort population logic
Published Nov 1, 2023 · Updated Sep 6, 2024
Access control bypass in Cisco Firepower Threat Defense Software and Umbrella Insights Virtual Appliance allows remote attackers to evade Snort rules. A logic error while populating Snort 3 access control policies leaves configured rules ineffective for attacker-established connections. Exploitation requires Snort 3 to be active and permits traffic that the configured policy should block, without reported confidentiality or availability impact.
