File disclosure via DMG parser entity substitution
Published Feb 16, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
XML external entity injection in Cisco Secure Endpoint allows remote attackers to read files through a crafted DMG submitted for scanning. The ClamAV DMG parser enables XML entity substitution, causing external entities in image metadata to resolve against files readable by the scanning process. The connector must scan an attacker-supplied DMG; exploitation discloses file bytes but does not alter data or interrupt the service.
