CVE-2023-20038

Stored credential decryption via static encryption key

Published Jan 19, 2023 · Updated Oct 28, 2024

Use of a hard-coded cryptographic key in Cisco Industrial Network Director before 1.6.0 allows local users to decrypt stored data and credentials. The monitoring application stores a static key that encrypts its local application data and credentials for remote systems. A user with local access to the IND server can recover the key, decrypt stored credentials, and use them to access monitored remote systems.
