CVE-2023-20017Network attack vector

Root command execution via crafted package extraction

Published Aug 16, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Command injection in Cisco Intersight Virtual Appliance before 1.0.9-589 allows remote authenticated users to execute commands as root. The software package extraction path insufficiently validates a crafted uploaded package before passing attacker-controlled content to operating-system commands. Administrator privileges and access to the package-upload interface are required, and successful exploitation grants root-level command execution.
