CVE-2023-1906Public exploit

Application crash via undersized TIFF strip buffer

Published Apr 12, 2023 · Updated Feb 10, 2025

Heap-based buffer overflow in ImageMagick before 6.9.12-84 and 7.1.1-6 allows local users to crash an application via a crafted TIFF. The TIFF reader underallocates strip_pixels by applying an incorrect fixed multiplier before ImportMultiSpectralQuantum reads the strip. A user or application must process the file locally; the documented consequence is an out-of-bounds read and process crash, not data disclosure or code execution.
