Administrator-session script execution via unescaped notice URLs
Published Jun 27, 2023 · Updated Nov 27, 2024
Reflected XSS in Helpie FAQ before 1.9.9 allows remote attackers to run script in an administrator's browser through a crafted URL. Generated URLs for some WordPress administrator notices place request-influenced text into HTML attributes without escaping it for the attribute context. Exploitation requires a logged-in administrator to open the crafted URL while the relevant notice remains undismissed, exposing that session's accessible data and actions.
