Author-level arbitrary email sending via unchecked action
Published Jun 28, 2023 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Missing authorization in HappyMonster Subscribe2 10.40 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to send arbitrary email to site users. The mail branch in admin/send-email.php processed the s2_admin=mail POST action, attacker-controlled content, and uploaded attachments without a manage_options capability check. Author-level access is required, and successful exploitation sends chosen messages and files to the site's subscribers.
