Credential disclosure via incomplete audit-log redaction
Published Apr 17, 2023 · Updated Dec 6, 2024
Sensitive-data exposure in Mattermost 7.7.2 and earlier, 7.8.0 through 7.8.1, and 7.9.0 allows attackers to read credentials from audit logs. The audit-logging path fails to redact a password during user creation and password hashes during other operations. Exposure requires ExperimentalAuditSettings to be enabled and access to the resulting logs; the reported consequence is disclosure of passwords and hashes.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
