Stored script execution via unsanitized FAQ fields
Published Mar 31, 2023 · Updated Feb 11, 2025
Stored XSS in Thorsten Rinne phpMyFAQ before 3.1.12 allows remote authenticated users to execute scripts in a viewer's browser via FAQ data. Administrative FAQ add, edit, and save handlers accept titles, authors, tags, comments, notes, and related fields with FILTER_UNSAFE_RAW before storing them. High-privileged access is required to plant the payload, and execution occurs when another user views the stored content; the published assessment reports limited browser-context disclosure and modification, not service interruption.
