CVE-2023-1755Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Stored XSS via writable version configuration

Published Mar 31, 2023 · Updated Feb 11, 2025

Stored XSS in phpMyFAQ before 3.1.12 allows remote authenticated users to execute scripts in another administrator's browser. The admin configuration handler accepted main.currentVersion as a writable raw value, stripped only braces and dollar signs, and stored it without HTML escaping. An account with editconfig permission must submit the value, and another user must view content that renders it; the script then runs in that viewer's browser.
