CVE-2023-1752Network attack vector

Device hijacking via MAC-only ownership validation

Published Apr 4, 2023 · Updated Jan 16, 2025

Improper authentication in Nexx Smart Home devices allows remote authenticated users to hijack registered devices using only a MAC address. The registration workflow accepts the device MAC address as proof of ownership and permits association of an already registered device with another user. Registration requires a Nexx account and the target MAC address, and successful reassociation interrupts the legitimate owner's access.
