CVE-2023-1698Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Unauthenticated command execution via unsanitized package identifier

Published May 15, 2023 · Updated Jan 23, 2025

OS command injection in affected WAGO controller and panel firmware allows remote attackers to execute commands through WBM. The legal-information plugin reads the package field from an unauthenticated JSON request in licenses.php and passes it unsanitized to shell_exec. Commands run as the www account and can create users, change configuration, interrupt service, or fully compromise the device.
