CVE-2023-1678Public exploit

System reboot via unrestricted hardware-port IOCTLs

Published Mar 28, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Memory corruption in Driver Genius 9.70.0.346 allows local users to reboot Windows through crafted IOCTL requests to mydrivers64.sys. The three IOCTL handlers expose __outbyte, __outword, and __outdword operations to untrusted callers, permitting direct writes to hardware I/O ports. A normal local user can open the driver and issue the crafted requests without user interaction; the published proof of concept forces a Windows restart.
