CVE-2023-1655Public exploit

Process crash via unchecked WAVE chunk bounds

Published Mar 27, 2023 · Updated Feb 19, 2025

Heap-based buffer overflow in GPAC before 2.4.0 allows attackers to crash MP4Box by processing crafted WAVE input. pcmreframe_process advances its bitstream cursor beyond malformed chunk data and then passes the invalid source position to memcpy for a 2,048-byte read. Opening or batch-processing the crafted local file is required; the demonstrated consequence is process termination, while code execution was not demonstrated.
