CVE-2023-1652

System crash or kernel-memory disclosure via stale waiter

Published Mar 29, 2023 · Updated May 12, 2026

Use-after-free in Linux kernel NFS server code before 6.2-rc5 allows local users to crash the system or read kernel memory. When a signal interrupts nfsd4_ssc_setup_dul, the function frees pending work without removing its waiter from nfsd_ssc_waitq. A low-privileged local user must reach NFS inter-server copy handling; exploitation causes a kernel crash or disclosure of kernel memory.
