CVE-2023-1492Public exploit

Local system crash via unvalidated IOCTL buffer

Published Mar 18, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Improper input validation in MaxProc64.sys in Max Secure Anti Virus Plus 19.0.2.1 allows local users to crash Windows via IOCTL 0x220019. The IOControlCode handler passes attacker-controlled SystemBuffer data into the kernel driver without validating the buffer before use. Low-privileged local access is sufficient, and successful exploitation produces a system-wide blue-screen crash rather than data access or code execution.
