Local system reboot via exposed port writes
Published Mar 18, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Denial of service in Wise System Monitor 1.5.3.54 allows local users to reboot Windows through crafted device-control requests. WiseHDInfo64.dll exposes three IOCTLs to ordinary users and dispatches them to the __outbyte, __outword, and __outdword processor I/O instructions. Low-privilege local access to the installed driver is sufficient; the published proof of concept restarts the host, while further impacts remain unverified.
