CVE-2023-1486Public exploit

Arbitrary file deletion via unrestricted kernel IOCTL

Published Mar 18, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Improper access control in Wise Force Deleter 1.5.3.54 allows local users to delete arbitrary files through a kernel driver IOCTL. The WiseUnlock64.sys handler for IOCTL 0x220004 accepts deletion requests from normal users without enforcing access controls on the target path. Any local low-privileged account can remove protected or critical files, causing data loss or making the Windows host unusable.
