Authenticated command execution via OSPF area injection
Published Mar 25, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Command injection in the OSPF handler of Ubiquiti EdgeRouter X 2.0.9-hotfix.6 allows remote authenticated users to execute commands. The web management batch API passes an OSPF area value containing shell metacharacters into command processing without neutralization. Administrative credentials and a valid CSRF token are required; the proof of concept writes a file and sends a ping, while Ubiquiti disputes the finding.
