CVE-2023-1449Public exploit

Application crash via AV1 parser double free

Published Mar 17, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Double free in GPAC 2.3-DEV-rev35-gbbca86917-master allows local users to crash MP4Box by processing a crafted AV1 file. On an AV1 parse error, the reframer returns before flushing sample state, so later teardown in gf_av1_reset_state frees a buffer already released by reallocation. Exploitation requires the crafted file to be opened locally; the demonstrated consequence is an AddressSanitizer-detected abort, not code execution.
