CVE-2023-1445Public exploit

Arbitrary process termination via unchecked IOCTL request

Published Mar 17, 2023 · Updated Nov 22, 2024

Improper access control in Filseclab Twister Antivirus 8 allows local users to terminate arbitrary Windows processes through a driver request. The fildds.sys handler for IOCTL 0x80112053 accepts a caller-supplied process identifier, opens that process without forcing an access check, and passes its handle to ZwTerminateProcess. Low-privileged local access is sufficient, and targeting a critical process interrupts the associated service or system operation.
