SYSTEM privilege escalation via MSI link following
Published Apr 5, 2023 · Updated Feb 10, 2025
Improper link resolution in Cloudflare WARP for Windows 2022.5.309.0 and earlier allows local users to gain SYSTEM privileges. The cached MSI repair function follows attacker-created opportunistic locks and symbolic links when accessing files, redirecting SYSTEM-context operations to unintended paths. A non-admin local account can exploit the repair path to read or delete arbitrary files, enabling system-file manipulation and privilege escalation.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
