Stored script execution via misordered output escaping
Published Jun 9, 2023 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Stored XSS in Weaver Xtreme 5.0.7 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute scripts through a profile display name. The author-attribution output calls esc_attr before sprintf inserts get_the_author output, leaving the stored display name unescaped. Contributor-level access is required, and the script runs when another user views an affected author page or reviews or previews the attacker's post.
