CVE-2023-1402Network attack vector

Restricted role disclosure via unfiltered participation report

Published Mar 23, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Information exposure in Moodle LMS allows remote authenticated users to view otherwise restricted role names in course participation reports. The report_participation_print_filter_form function built its role selector from every role used in the course context instead of intersecting that set with roles returned by get_viewable_roles. Access to the course participation report is required, and the exposure is limited to role names and associated filtered report entries.
