CVE-2023-1390Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Remote system hang via unchecked empty TIPC queue

Published Mar 16, 2023 · Updated Apr 23, 2025

Resource-consumption in Linux kernel 4.3 through 5.11-rc3 allows remote attackers to hang systems through a TIPC UDP bearer. tipc_link_xmit() reads a message header from an empty socket-buffer list before checking the list length, leaving the transmit path in a faulty state. A configured TIPC UDP bearer is required; two small UDP packets can drive CPU use to 100 percent and leave the system unresponsive.
