CVE-2023-1387Public exploitNetwork attack vector

JWT theft via unfiltered data source proxying

Published Apr 26, 2023 · Updated Feb 13, 2025

Information exposure in affected Grafana 9.x releases allows remote authenticated users to steal JWTs through data source proxy requests. The data source proxy consumes auth_token for Grafana authentication but forwards the same query parameter unchanged to the configured data source. Exploitation requires JWT URL login, which is disabled by default, and an attacker-controlled data source; the exposed token grants the victim's Grafana access until expiry.
