Authenticated protected-post disclosure via unchecked post_excerpt
Published Apr 17, 2023 · Updated Feb 6, 2025
Missing authorization in W4 Post List before 2.4.6 allows remote authenticated users to read password-protected post content. The post_excerpt rendering path processes a crafted [postlist] shortcode through the parse-media-shortcode AJAX action without checking the post password. Subscriber-level access and a list containing a protected post are sufficient to expose its content, with no reported write or service-interruption impact.
