CVE-2023-1350Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Remote command execution via pipe-prefixed feed URLs

Published Mar 11, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

OS command injection in Liferea 1.12.0 through 1.14.0 allows remote attackers to execute commands through a malicious feed link. The update_job_run function treats any source beginning with a pipe as a local command, and feed-enrichment requests propagated attacker-controlled item or AMP URLs without disabling that command path. Exploitation requires a user to enable “Extract full content from HTML5 and Google AMP” for a malicious subscription; commands run with the Liferea process account.
