Stored XSS via unescaped shortcode attributes
Published Apr 17, 2023 · Updated Mar 5, 2025
Stored XSS in Easy Forms for Mailchimp before 6.8.7 allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through shortcode attributes. The yikes-mailchimp-unsubscribe renderer inserts the list and email_placeholder attribute values into the generated form without validation or output escaping. Contributor access is sufficient to store the shortcode, and the script runs when the resulting page or post is previewed or viewed.
